My Classroom
This week (Term 4 Week 9) we will be:
- Completing our self assessments for semester two to be included in our last primary school report
- Revising how to convert a fraction to a decimal and percentage and vice versa
- Using the Melways to investigate road networks – e.g. how we will get to our end of year excursion
- Working on our writing project
- Reading to our teacher and working on our novel questions
- Learning about peer pressure and how to handle it
- Completing our designs for devices that will help minimise the damage caused by natural disasters
This week (Term 4 Week
in the classroom we will be:
- Completing our Invention explanations and publishing these
- Working on our ‘Writing Project’ - seven pieces of writing from Prep – Grade 6
- Continuing our small reading group activities and comprehension tasks
- Investigating mass and its applications in the real world
- Revising addition/subtraction of fractions
- Working on our small group Natural Disaster projects
This week (Term 4 Week 6) in the classroom we will be:
- demonstrating our understandings of narrative writing by creating a story based around the destruction a natural disaster can cause
- putting together our semester two portfolio of work
- Investigating volume and capacity
- continuing our reading program
- participating in a CSIRO in-school visit
- becoming experts in a natural disaster and teaching the rest of the class
This week (Term 4 Week 4) in the classroom we will be:
- Focusing on the writing genre of ‘Explanations’
- Learning about ‘Length, Perimeter and Area’
- Revising our ‘Fractions and Decimals’ knowledge/skills
- Identifying the changes that will happen in the next 12 months leading into secondary school
- Recognising different perceptions in our Coaching session
- Focusing on different comprehension skills during reading sessions
- Learning about tectonic plates and volcanoes, as well as the layers of the atmosphere
This week (Term 4 Week 3) in the classroom we are focusing on:
- Procedural writing
- Identifying the emotions of characters in texts
- Concluding our investigation on fractions, decimals and percentages
- Beginning an investigation into measurement (length, perimeter, area, volume and capacity)
- Participating in the ‘Making the Change’ transition program
- Celebrating ‘World Children’s Week’ by having a lunch with our Prep T buddies
- Finishing our paper mache Earth model
