About
As a classroom teacher I aim to provide a happy, secure, stimulating learning environment for my students through:-
Recognising every child as an individual, with differing physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs;
Helping to realise the potential of a child by catering for their individual learning needs and styles;
Encouraging parents to be actively involved in their child’s education, both in the classroom and at home; and
Emphasising the positive aspects of behaviour and achievement and encouraging children to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
I have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build constructive relationships with my students and maintain a positive working atmosphere in the classroom. My warm, gentle and friendly manner enables me to quickly build a rapport with all my students which helps to motivate their learning. It is also imperative that a safe and supportive classroom environment is established and maintained.
I am proficient at implementing a curriculum that is inclusive for all students to meet their individual needs and stages of development in order for them to achieve success. To do this I adapt my programs and teaching styles for all students. Within my current class I cater for the diverse needs for children who are operating from grade 3/4 level to year 8.
Professional Development improves the skills and understandings of teachers, parents, the community and administrators. I believe that professional development has increased my decision making process and understandings of how to improve my classroom practice and skills. Professional Development gives me the opportunity to share, try and communicate new ideas with colleagues and respond to the changing needs of the students, community and progressive society.
Currently I am teaching a year six class. This year we have covered the subject areas of: numeracy, literacy, physical education, sport, visual art, performing arts, Indonesian, lierature research, science (natural disasters), health, Australian history and many more……
